John Lennon once said that if the Beatles lasted into the 70s, they would've sounded like ELO. Is this statement:

A. A great compliment to ELO.
B. A knock on ELO by suggesting the Beatles break up was for the best because they would've ended up producing dreck.
C. An example of Lennon's impish humor.
D. Made up by me (Scott)

Quote of the day: "There are two refuges from the miseries of life: music and cats" --Albert Schweitzer

That explains why "Cats" was one of the most enduring plays on Broadway.

Don't you all think Stevie Nicks would've been great in "Cats"? And all the Andrew Lloyd Weber songs were replaced by Fleetwood Mac songs. And all the silly cat costumes were replaced by flouncy, flowy dresses. I think John Lennon would have approved. But we'll never know, because he's dead.

'Nuff said. bfn.

Actually, I think the statement you attribute to Lennon was made by Paul McCartney; but of course I bow to Greg on the matter.

I am certain, however, that Greg will agree with me that Albert Schweitzer was never a Beatle, and his thoughts on cats are therefore irrelevant.

Scott, I think I am not alone on this blog in feeling that you are in a musical rut. (Kevin: Insert joke here.)Fear not: Professor Joe has the antidote:

We will commence treatment with a tune from the era your obsession is lodged in, the 70s. Now, dig out your copy of "Blood On The Tracks" and listen to "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go." Terrific, right? Not your Favorite track - I seem to remember you preferred "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" - but still...

Next, score a copy of "Careless Love" by Madeleine Peyroux, and play her cover of that same song. Marvel at the way she ambles through all those syllables Dylan sprinted through, and the entirely new life that pace breathes into "I could stay with you forever/and never realize the time."

Take a couple deep breaths, and I'll have back the Scott I used to listen to Sonny Rollins and Pavement with.
