I've been so tired lately from working that I haven't been my usual jovial self.
The Colin Powell endorsement of Barack Obama got me thinking. There's one endorsement that could really make a difference. It's radical, but McCain may be mavericky enough to pull it off. He needs to convince W. to break tradition as a sitting president and endorse Obama. W.'s endorsement would be like a political riptide that pulls Obama under.
I'm so fucking sick and tired of Republicans crying "class warfare" whenever a new progressive tax structure is suggested. It needs to be pointed out that we're in a class war now in which the wealthy have been raping and pillaging us for years. The last eight years has been the only period of economic expansion during which the median income has dropped. All the wealth has been reaped by the few at the top. Yet Republicans don't consider this class warfare. Time to fight back.
When I ride my bike, it feels like I'm on my way somewhere. When I go for a run, it feels like I'm escaping from somewhere.
There is a great article on David Foster Wallace in the current Rolling Stone (with Obama on the cover). It's worth seeking out.
I have a sneaking suspicion that there is no such thing as an authentic self.
It could be that I've been listening to "Hunky Dory" and "Ziggy Stardust" a lot lately.
I want Andy Rooney's job when he retires.

Given that Andy Rooney is 89, I think you may be waiting for a more permanent career change than retirement.
