Scuttled Yachts, Part 2

Queen Elizabeth II Cruise Liner Runs Aground on Final Voyage
By David Altaner
Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- The Queen Elizabeth II cruise liner ran aground on its final voyage before departing for Dubai to become a floating hotel.
The ship touched bottom overnight on the Brambles bank off the Isle of Wight near the southern English coast, and was re- floated about 6:30 a.m. local time as the tide came in, a Cunard spokesman said.
The ship berthed at the southern English port of Southampton before its departure to the Middle East, the spokesman said.
The ship was attached to two tugboats giving aid, the spokesman said. The British Broadcasting Corp., citing eyewitnesses, said the ship may have been blown off course by strong wind.
Thousands are set to see the ship off today in Southampton, including Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. A million poppies are to be dropped over the ship to mark the 90th anniversary of the end of World War I, the BBC said.
