I don't recognize most of the things on your list. My pick for top single of the year is MGMT's "Time to Pretend". Nothing comes close.

I never heard of MGMT. I think most of the music I like is produced by LABOR.

Seriously, though, I just listened to that single and it is great.

If you pick up one item from my list, make it Art of the Slow Cooker.

Oh, and you’ll need a slow cooker.

I saw Iron Man, finally, last night. It IS an awesome movie, but in the comic books-come-to-life-in-the-cinema category my vote goes to Hell Boy II; del Toro has proved once again he is the most creative director of movies today. If you haven't seen this film then stop all Xmas preparations and go straight to Blockbuster. Another great film in the fantasy category is Wall-E (the latest Pixar) - you simply must see it.

I can't believe you liked Idiocracy - a one-joke movie from 2006 that really disappointed me (although "Ow, My Balls!" IS the funniest thing ever). What am I missing here? Also, I've come to hate Luke Wilson. Anyone else with me here?

Did you see Tropic Thunder? I finally caught it a couple nights back and found it really funny.

A few of my favorite films (DVDs, really) of the year:

Jellyfish, XXY, The Visitor, In Bruges, Persepolis, Hell Boy II, Wall-E

Idiocracy cracked me up early ("U-P-G-R-A-Y-E-D-D -- with two D's") and I never regained my composure.
