UPDATE: Turkey is out for the Marquis, who is returning to Tokyo for three months' work.
We are welcome in Tokyo, where his employer is providing him with an apartment.
Are we welcome in said apartment?
The Marquis is less than explicit on this point, but promises a Tokyo much less crowded and functional -- "more interesting!" -- than usual.
Who's still up for Turkey?
Anyone for Tokyo?

My thyroid tells me not to go to Tokyo. Turkey still sounds good to me.
According to Lonely Planet:
Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are the best times to visit, since the climate will be perfect for sightseeing in İstanbul and on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, and it will be cool in central Anatolia, but not unpleasantly so. Visiting before mid-June or after August may also help you avoid mosquitoes. If your primary drive is for beach-bumming, mid-May to September is perfect for the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, if a little steamy out of the water. The Black Sea coast is best visited between April and September – there will still be rain but not so much of it. Head to eastern Turkey from late June to September, but not before May or after mid-October unless you’re prepared for snow, road closures and bone-chilling temperatures.
With over 400 aftershocks of 5.0 or greater since the big one, Japan seems poised to be swallowed into the earth's mantle at any moment. So that weighs heavily against any offer of a free place to crash.
How's Turkey looking politically? Here's one view:
Turks are looking baffled by recent events in Egypt; they long have dreamed and are discretely working for an "Islamic based Caliphate government" in the Middle East with its capital in Ankara or Istanbul, but now they look frustrated as they are seeing the possibility of such a Caliphate government emerging in Egypt by Egyptians, having its capital in Cairo. Will Turkey and Egypt go to war with each other over this issue? Over the issue of who will host an Islamic-Caliphate-Government..
With Egypt already in an Islamic revolution against secular Mubarak regime, the Turks are seeing now that Egyptians over-runned them, hence Turkey most-likely will starts it own Islamic revolution based upon Muslim Sharia laws before this year is over, we should not forget that this June/July there are elections in Turkey.
Eventually we may see two Islamic-Caliphate-Governments in the Middle East: One in Turkey with its satellites and the other in Egypt with its own satellites. Two competing caliphates. At the end there would be a pact and alliance between those two caliphates and they will divide Europe (or rather the conquest of Europe which is now in its spiritual death thrones of decadented Christianity). We clearly see Turkey attacking Austria and Vienna again to avenge their humiliation in 17th century; while Egypt and its satellites attacking Italy and Rome (for revenge of centuries of Roman empire occupation of Egypt under Czars) and attacking south Spain by way of north Africa to take back the region of Andalusia. A revenge is an obligation to Muslims.
