Miike Snow / Drive-By Truckers

Feral Boy theme song.

Detroit theme song.

Workin' this job is a kick in the pants
Workin' this job is like a knife in the back
It ain't gettin' me further than the dump I live in
It ain't gettin' me further than the next paycheck
Workin' this job is like lightin' two fuses
Workin' this job is runnin' out of excuses
It's like a dead-end when a road map is useless
Until I'm dead and there's nothin' to show for my uses

Nobody told me it'd be easy
Or for that matter, it'd be so hard
But it's the livin' and learnin'
It makes the difference
It makes it all worthwhile
It makes it all worthwhile

Workin' this job, there's nothin' left but to hate it
I won't get as far as my daddy made it
It aint gettin' me farther for all my strivin'
In the dead-end I live or the piece of shit I'm drivin'

Nobody told me it'd be easy
Or for that matter, it'd be so hard
But it's the livin' and learnin'
It makes the difference
It makes it all worthwhile
It makes it all worthwhile

Sometimes I dream that I had aimed my life in different ways
But there was nothin' to show me a way to get me outta this place
So I just did what my daddy did before me
Only to find the only door I found was closed to me

Workin' this job, I thought it sucked when I had it
Now it is gone and I'm learnin' what that is
I'm tryin' to hang in to the worst of places
But a family can't live on these fast food wages

Nobody told me it'd be easy
Or for that matter, it'd be so hard
But it's the livin' and learnin'
It makes the difference
It makes it all worthwhile
It makes it all worthwhile

Workin' this job
Workin' this job
Workin' this job

Suspect is still on the moose, er, I mean loose

From the Denver Post: STOCKHOLM — Swedish police say they have cleared a man who was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife after deciding the culprit was most likely a moose. Police spokesman Ulf Karlsson said "the improbable has become probable" in the puzzling death last year of 63-year-old Agneta Westlund. She was found dead after an evening stroll in the forest. According to reports, the victim's husband, Ingemar Westlund, was jailed for 10 days. The case against him was dropped in January.

Iran Elections Too Close To Call; Meanwhile...

I wonder if the remake of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three will remain faithful to the spirit of the very entertaining Walter Matthau….ah, forget it.

Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight in Detroit--still time to get caught up, if you haven’t been watching.

Former GOP Congressman, Plymouth resident Carl Pursell dies at age 76.

“Speaking of Pelham One Two Three: Stoner, why do you want to be a hack writer of pulp fiction, anyway?”

Sweden's Pirate Party has won a seat in the European Parliament.

Story from BBC NEWS:

Published: 2009/06/08 11:24:36 GMT

The group - which campaigned on reformation of copyright and patent law - secured 7.1% of the Swedish vote. The result puts the Pirate Party in fifth place, behind the Social Democrats, Greens, Liberals and the Moderate Party.

Rickard Falkvinge, the party leader, told the BBC the win was "gigantic" and that they were now negotiating with four different EU Parliamentary groups. "Last night, we gained political credibility," said Mr Falkvinge. "People were not taken in by the establishment and we got political trust from the citizens."

The profile of the Pirate Party and issues surrounding copyright law have dominated headlines in Sweden over the past few months.

In April, a court in Sweden sentenced the four men behind The Pirate Bay, the world's most high-profile file-sharing website, to a year in jail and ordered them to pay $4.5m (£3m) in damages.

Mr Falkvinge said it had played a significant role in getting them the vote. "The establishment is trying to prevent control of knowledge and culture slipping from their grasp. "When the Pirate Bay got hit, people realised the wolf was outside the front door.

Parties within the European Parliament tend to join one of the big voting blocs, otherwise their MEP can become marginalised. Mr Falkvinge said they were still considering their position.

The biggest loser in Sweden's election was the eurosceptic June List party, which saw its share of the vote fall by more than 10 points to 3.6% of the vote. The Left Party also saw its vote halved to 5.6%. (Background story is in the first three comments.)

Jens Lekman in The Onion

When Swedish songwriter Jens Lekman croons about avocados, seashells, or his juvenile memories, he uncovers more than the rattle of clever words. The songs on his debut album, 2004's When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog (and the also-solid compilation Oh You're So Silent Jens), turned his stories, longings, and fantasies into the journals of a wistful romantic who's willing to play the clown. Much as he likes to build songs on samples of everything from African music to Swedish electronic pop, they aren't a crutch. Last year's Night Falls Over Kortedala asserted his vocal power and his way with luxurious pop melodies more boldly than ever: 2007 produced few songs as catchy, or as serenely odd, as Lekman's "The Opposite Of Hallelujah" and "Your Arms Around Me." Before starting his American tour, Lekman spoke with The A.V. Club about audience reactions, humor, and the spiritual wonder of haircuts.
