Good For You!

I’d forgotten this, or at least not thought of it in years, but –- anyone else remember, during our junior high-to-high school years, “Good for you!” being employed only sarcastically by our peers?

I had a sudden sharp recollection, of sitting in a classroom and saying to a friend, oh, I don’t know, that I just got a B+ on an exam, or that I’d just found an amusing website about things white people like –- and someone outside of the conversation pipes in, “Good for you!”

And so you turn in their direction, and they’re sneering (or laughing) at you?

Anyone else remember this?

Sometime after “Well, duh” but before The Mackenzie Brothers?

Chime in, man.

Don't let me continue to believe I'm inventing memories of humiliation.
