The Most Dangerous Item in the Home Office This Month

I must admit: I've never been able to appreciate Scotch whiskey as the liquor cognoscenti do. I find their talk of single malts and boutique distilleries sexy and intriguing but without much point, as the liquor itself is a bit vile. I came to assume, after many years of occasional imbibing, that the problem was the intrinsic peat, and so I moved on to sample many an Irish whiskey as an alternative - a good portion of which may have taken place during Aspen Summit 2005 - but even with these potions I found little enjoyment.

Traveling through Denver on my way home from the DBF I chanced upon this rye whiskey from Kentucky (though it is sold by Sazerac, a New Orleans company) and decided to give it a try. It is a delight, and a revelation. Poured over ice with a splash of water it is subtly sweet, spicy, delicious - much more enjoyable than the Scotch and Irish whiskeys I've sampled. Highly recommended for the feral boy that lies within us all.
