Jazz aside, a quick look at the schedule* finds plenty of the indie "rock" you sensitive types among us like; music aside, there's spicy food, and a great historic wreck of a city to trip around in.

New Orleans, LA (December 15, 2009)—The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell today announced the music lineup for the star-studded 2010 Festival scheduled for April 23-25 & April 29-May 2. Now entering its fifth decade, Jazz Fest continues to showcase the most important names in music alongside Louisiana’s favorite entertainers. First-time Festival appearances by My Morning Jacket, Anita Baker, Jeff Beck, Gipsy Kings, The Dead Weather, The Levon Helm Band, Drake, Johnny Lang and others are also set. Returning Fest favorites for 2010 include Van Morrison, Lionel Richie, Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, and B.B. King. Of course, legendary local Louisiana artists such as the Neville Brothers, Irma Thomas, Pete Fountain, Dr. John, Galactic, Juvenile & DJ Mannie Fresh, Trombone Shorty, Dixie Cups, Buckwheat Zydeco, Zion Harmonizers, Better Than Ezra, The Radiators and hundreds more round out the “Only at Jazz Fest” schedule:

The Marquis got that right. I'm still waiting for Cajun Joe to open up a muffaletta shop in the old D. I'd gladly invest in such a business venture--buy some vacant property in the city, grow the ingredients for the olive spread on site, bake the bread on the premises, establish apprenticeships for inner-city kids on the art of making the muffaletta. I'll send Cajun Joe the business plan by separate post.

You're missing the point. At your local Quiznos, you can't hear Better Than Ezra. Well, not LIVE.
So, will there be any jazz played at the NO Jazz Festival?
The 2nd weekend looks good. Stoner's favorite band, Pearl Jam, is headlining. Then, there's Sonny Landreth and the Louis Prima tribute.
The line-up is kind of overwhelming. My eyes started spinning before I could make it through the list of performers.

This was Stoner's fall-back music festival for April -- Roadburn 2010, in Tilburg, Holland, sold out in 30 minutes.
