The State of the Summit

                                                (photo: Pearl Jam)

Any continued interest in a Summit in New Orleans this spring?

Any potential trip to New Orleans tends to have a Last-Chance feel to it, and Eddie Vedder's not going to be around forever, either. I mean, look at him.

Pearl Jam plays the second weekend. A single-day ticket is $45 in advance.

A single day at the JazzFest would leave another day or two for a review of the headier panel discussions in Davos, bungee-jumping from the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, and what-have-you.

Yours,
Cajun Joe

Eddie was rocking that beard for too long - it's good to see him cleaned up again. Anyhoo, I'm interested.

I was checking out airfares to MSY for the 2nd weekend. Better get tickets quick. It seems to be a busy period for travel to MSY. AirTrans seems to have the cheapest fares.

Oh yeah I'm interested in seeing Eddie Vedder before he's dead.

On Travelocity, all flights Aspen-to-NO are north of $500. This is a tough nut for part-timer Feral Boy. Kayak shows $470 if I travel Sat-Tues (still a bit too spendy, and I'd have to miss add'l work). If a sub $400 special comes up I'm in, otherwise I'll have to pass. (Even though that might prevent Eddie Vedder from seeing me before I'm dead.)

I have an alternate suggestion for the same weekend, with cheaper airfare: the Beale Street Music Festival.

That's a pretty good lineup, with notable overlap, but I think it would be a tough sell for the others - one wonders what sort of regional sandwiches will be available. (BTW, whatever happened to Rex and the Frog on this issue?)

There's always Lilith Fair come summer...
