Trash Can Photography (or Making the Best of a Stinky Job)

You've got a crappy job as a sanitation worker. You'd rather be doing what you love, photography. Of course, you convert trash cans and dumpsters into pinhole cameras to take photos on the job, as some German sanitation workers have done.

More photos here.

Are you looking into the intellectual property rights in case Livermore has an artistic trashman? Dreamcrusher!

So, a urinal abandoned by a Hamburg curbside: sanitation worker strike, or homage to Duchamp?

A dozen or so years ago, a friend of mine in SV, Dave Shinn, came into possession of some expired (or perhaps just unattended) large-format positive-transfer photo paper. He made a pinhole camera from a large Sonotube concrete form, and created a bunch of direct-to-paper positives. Which is pretty cool.

That is very cool. BTW if you come across expired Polaroid film please send it my way.

Can't you hit up your local trash collector for leads? Aah, he's probably hoarding it all for his next exhibit at the Fraenkel.
