I watched the Tiger-Twins game last night and that same tired meme was retread: such-and-such Detroit sports team is an uplifting diversion for the chronically depressed people of Detroit. I don't think the sportscasters even think about it now. It's now the line to say. It's like the people of Detroit have no other joys in life except sports. At all other times, they're thinking about how much the local economy sucks. It's beyond cliche. Thanks, Stoner, for pointing out there other joys to be found in Detroit like Kiss concerts, roller derby, and Chewbacca impersonators.
I'm slowly cleaning up the archives to make searching easier, e.g., combining all Deep Blues years into one tag, all Summit years into one, etc., and eliminating other tags that are not useful. (Uhmm... "Grover Cleveland"?)

That was a great game!
I didn't hear the commentary, though, because I was blasting "KISS ALIVE" on the 8-track.
After the game, did you blow up disco records in the back yard?
I'd love to watch the Tigers clinch tonight, but I'll be busy listening to my Kraftwerk albums.
They're playing right now! The Tigers, not Kraftwerk.
